RE-ENTRY
CARE
Re-entry
is one of the topics that is covered in the workshop for sending
churches. The aim is to assist the missionaries and their sending
churches to understand the re-entry process and to give guidelines
concerning re-entry care.
When missionaries return from the
field, they experience reverse culture shock. The
missionary as a person, their friends and family and the country have
changed during their time on the field. Just as
they had to
adjust to the culture on the field, so they have to adjust again to the
home culture. What the missionaries experience is very much
the
same as a process of grief. Too often the missionaries are
not
seen as the church or organisation's responsibility during re-entry.
Member Care
Southern Africa gives individual or small group re-entry
guidance and a weekend debriefing for returning missionaries.
